One of the fantastic characteristics of Golden and Kicking Horse is the climate. There are four distinct seasons.
The winter snow is usually gone by mid-march, making way for an abundance of spring flowers around the town and surrounding countryside. A must see, the beautiful Blaeberry valley at this time of year.
Summer is a time of long hot days, outdoor activities, and aquamarine rivers. You can wander down to the Blaeberry River from Hillside Lodge, or take a short drive to the many walks and hikes in the surrounding areas.
Fall is a riot of colour and crisp autumn temperatures that give way to winter, fit for outdoor sports enthusiasts.
With lots of snow and very little rain each year (less than a quarter of the rainfall of Vancouver), the mountain area offers as wonderful a four-season climate as you’ll find anywhere in Canada.
The beautiful Blaeberry Valley is a site to see at any time of the year. From looking for spring flowers, to fishing in the many local rivers, or exploring the mountains in the fall and taking advantage of the nearby ski hill, as well as access to other hills such as Lake Louise, Sunshine and Panorama.
In our opinion, the best of Beautiful British Columbia has a Golden heart!
