Six National Parks surround Golden: Banff, Glacier, Jasper, Kootenay, Mount Revelstoke and Yoho. Gorgeous scenery, crisp, clear mountain air, and some of the most majestic scenery in the world will be on your doorstep.
Of course, you will find it difficult to even leave the Blaeberry Valley, once you have visited our lodge! However, if you do venture out, you can spend your days exploring the best of the parks and discover all the recreational and outdoor adventure opportunities available in the area of Golden.
Kicking Horse Country offers its own brand of adventure to everyone who enjoys being outside. The gondola rises to the summit of the Dogtooth Mountain Range at an elevation of 7705 feet (2350 meters), where you can enjoy the view from the new Eagles Eye Restaurant.
During the Gondola Ride, you may well get a birds-eye view of Boo, our resident ‘rescued’ Grizzly Bear. Boo and his brother, Cari were orphaned at a very young age, so a refuge was set up on the mountain exclusively for them. Unfortunately Cari didn’t survive his first hibernation, but Boo is now a strapping ‘teenager’ and is a real sight to see.
For golf enthusiasts, the Golden and District Golf Course is situated between the Purcell and Rocky Mountains. The Columbia River meanders around the border of this 18 hole championship golf course, making it one of the most scenic golf courses in BC.The course is ranked number 14 in British Columbia, and is in the top 35 among Canada's public/semi-private golf.
For the adventurous types, you can always opt for white-water rafting down the Kicking Horse River.
Going with experienced guides, you can venture through some of the longest grade 3 and grade 4 white water stretches.
